What We Believe

"All things are possible for one who believes". - Jesus in Matthew 9:23

Refuge 16' s beliefs are stated below in a short and simple way.
For more explanation of what we believe as a Global Methodist Church, see the links at the bottom of the page!

The Triune God is One:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit *
(Matthew 28:19)

The Bible is true
(2 Timothy 3:16-17)

We are saved by Jesus
(Ephesians 2:8-9)

Jesus died for us
(1 Peter 2:24)

We celebrate Jesus, not sin.
Jesus was treated as a sinner so that we could be treated as righteous.
(2 Corinthians 5:21)

Baptism & Holy Communion deliver the spiritual grace of Jesus to us in physical elements known as Holy Sacraments.
(Matthew 28:19; Luke 22:19-20)

The Church is essential.
(Ephesians 1:22-23; Hebrews 10:25)

We follow Jesus and desire holiness.
(Matthew 28:19-20; 1 Peter 1:15-16)

Marriage illustrates the union between Jesus and His church.
Marriage is designed and defined by Holy God, not government. It is a union between one man (because Jesus became a man), one woman (because the Church is Jesus' Bride), for one lifetime until death parts them.
(Ephesians 5:22-23; Matthew 19:4-6)

Holy God created two genders: male and female.
(Genesis 1:27)

All people are welcome to attend Refuge 16.
In order to officially belong to Refuge 16, there is the expectation that all will be called to repent of their sins and agree with the Lordship of Jesus Christ that our calling is to biblical holiness.
(Mark 1:15)

We fight for biblical justice and show compassion.
We are a refuge for the unborn and unloved.
We are a refuge for the unchurched, unengaged, and the unreached.
(Micah 6:8)

Jesus is worthy of every tribe, and language, and people, and nation.
We believe in one human race and Jesus' blood ransoms all people for God.
Racism is not tolerated at Refuge 16.
(Revelation 5:9-10)

Jesus will return.
(Acts 1:11; Revelation 22:20)

The Holy Spirit makes us holy and bold.
(1 Thessalonians 4:1-8; Acts 4:13; Acts 4:23-31)

Jesus has your heart; we've got your back.
(Psalm 16:1-11)
